This airport is built to ensure movement and easy flow from its 45 gates. This is an airport that has won many accolades and offers many dining and shopping options as well; along with Wi-Fi access across the terminals. The airport has entertainment and business centers apart from exchange facilities for foreign currency. The code of the airport is BNA for Berry Field Nashville. This airport was named after Harry S. Berry who was the administrator of the airport around the 1930s. The international airport boasts an 820,000 square foot terminal which has a total of 9 airlines serving it namely American Airlines, Delta, American Eagle, Air Canada, Frontier Airlines, Sunning, Southwest Airlines, United and US Airway. This includes major carriers and regional collaborators. There are close to 380 arrivals and departures occurring every day at the airport. Flights are available to close to 62 locales. 42 of the flights are non stop and this includes Salt Lake City, Washington DC,Denver, LA and NY. This airport was the first in the United States to permit ride sharing such as Lyft to function.

Nashville International Airport also has a customer service center operating from 6:30 in the morning to 11:30 in the night. Shuttles leave every 15 minutes from this airport. Transport services will also be provided to Fort Campbell, Convention Centers in Nashville, and Clarksville. The tickets are one way costing around USD 14. For round trips, the cost is USD 25.

Nashville is one of a total of 6 cities in the US which have three interstates connecting. 1-65 joins Nashville with Chicago, Indianapolis and Louisville to the north, Mobile, Birmingham and Montgomery to the south. Towards the east, Nashville is bisected by I-40 which is basically a freeway passing through the following cities: Memphis, Little Rock, Asheville, Knoxville and Oklahoma City. 1-24 serves as a crossing for the city from the NW to SE, providing links between St. Louis, Atlanta and Chattanooga. The Music City Star Commuter Rail system has close to 6 stations in the route between the east of Nashville to destination stops at downtown of the city. Passengers have the option of boarding one of two metropolitan transit authority buses at no extra charge. While one goes to Westend, the other goes downtown. Trains depart all 5 days of the week. There is even a late train on the last day of the week which leaves at 10:30 pm.  The line has 6 stops namely Donelson, River Front Station, Hermitage, Mt. Juliet, Lebanon and Martha. It covers 32 miles of railway line and service commenced in 2006.

Nashville and Eastern Railroad/NERR

This is a short line railway road which covers 137 miles between Nashville and Monterey in Tennessee. This company has 130 miles of operation rail and its company is based in the eastern part of Tennessee at Lebanon. Railroad extends to Monterey. Passenger excursion rail is operated between Nashville to Cookeville and/or Watertown in collaboration with Nashville’s Tennessee Central Railway Museum which stopped operating in the 1960s. This railroad is the location of the new Music City Star commuter railway line. It also has a subsidiary called the Nashville and Western Railroad Corporation operating between Nashville and Ashland City in the central part of Tennessee.

Local Public Transportation in Nashville

The Metro Transit Authority is the chief transport body providing service between downtown Nashville and the airport for 7 days in the week. 20 minute Express Trips are there and local services take over 45 minutes. All rides from downtown to the airport cost USD 2. Throughout the day, unlimited ride passes are there for a little over USD 5. There are also circulator buses downtown which provide free rides all 6 days of the week from Monday to Saturday known as Music City Circuit. There is also a Green Circuit which transports passengers between downtown and Gulch and Blue Circuit which serves as a transport network for areas from Schermerhorn Symphony Center to Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park. Shuttle Services in Nashville

A shuttle service operates every twenty minutes from ground level of the airport and lobbies of the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. Tickets cost USD 40 per person and children under the age of 4 can travel for free. There is a new rental facility constructed by the Metropolitan Transport Authority which is a short distance from the terminal and is home to 9 rental car brands.
